I had similar problem. Here is a solution. Move rogers modem to bridge mode, buy D-Link DSR - 250 VPN router. Connect Rogers modem port 1 (my Rogers modem Hitron keeps only one port enabled in bridge mode) to WAN port of DSR-250. Connect your wireless access point to one of eight 1Gbps LAN ports. I have L2TP VPN router connected to it.
